Title: Operations Coordinator
Reports to: Director of Human Resources and Operations
Salary Range: $55,000
Location: Woodside, Queens, New York (hybrid work environment)
Adhikaar for Human Rights and Social Justice
Adhikaar, meaning rights in Nepali, is a New York-based nonprofit organization working with
Nepali-speaking communities to promote human rights and social justice for all. Established in 2005, Adhikaar is
the only organization mobilizing the Nepali-speaking community in the New York area to raise our voices and
take collective action against injustices on issues affecting us through organizing, community education, grassroots
advocacy, leadership development, and individual assistance. We work in four program areas: workers’ rights,
immigrant rights, language justice and access to healthcare. It is a fast-paced environment with many programs
going on at once and the right candidate will thrive in such an environment.
Description
The Operations Coordinator’s responsibilities include reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources and
Operations. Must be well-versed in office operations including virtual operations, database management –
Powerbase, google drive, and basic IT support. Must Possess excellent communication skills and be able to juggle
multiple tasks. The Operation Coordinator will work closely with Adhikaar’s staff, interns, fellows and volunteers.
Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for the Operation Coordinator will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate
❏ Manage IT contracts, Google drive, and other online management tools and reports
❏ Troubleshoot tech issues with staff, interns, fellows, and IT consultant
❏ Perform administrative tasks, such as managing the front desk, answering phones
❏ Regularly check the voicemail and update it in Nepali & English
❏ Serve as the main point of contact with third-party vendors, landlords, and cleaning crews
❏ Handles logistical responsibilities, including managing office supplies and the maintenance of office
equipment. Track inventory and order office supplies as needed and track deliveries.
❏ Manage all repairs, lead on operations inquiries, and be a point-person/solve any operations related issues
❏ Provide administrative support to the team including support for events organized by Adhikaar, office
errands and other responsibilities
Support
❏ Collaborate with Director of Human Resources and Operations to set procedures, policies, and processes
❏ recruit fellows, interns, and volunteers
❏ follow all federal, state, and local business laws and regulations and company policies
❏ Answer phone inquiries, assisting with walk-ins, conducting workshops, and resource collection
❏ update events and reporting in Powerbase
❏ improve the overall database
Other Responsibilities
❏ Learns quickly and has strong problem-solving skills
❏ Provide language assistance
❏ Provide support for Adhikaar’s special events
❏ Must be available for travel and work engagement after-hours on an as-needed basis
❏ Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
❏ Demonstrates commitment to Adhikaar’s mission and vision
❏ At least 2-3 years of experience in community organizing or at a service-based grassroots organization
❏ Excellent computer skills including Powerbase, Google Apps, MS Office, and database management
❏ Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a wide variety of professional backgrounds
and experiences
❏ Excellent communication skills
❏ Previous experience in office management
❏ Ability to work in a team as well as lead independent projects, and maintain good working relationships at
all levels of the organization
❏ Ability to pay attention to details and be self-motivated
❏ Willingness to learn
Preferred
❏ Experience providing individual services, advocating for groups working in coalitions
❏ An understanding of the political landscape and political analysis of workers rights, immigrant rights, and
gender justice issues
❏ Bi-lingual: Nepali and English
❏ Educational background in management or a related field might be considered to complement past
organizing, service work or non-profit work
